Combination skin: how to recognize it

What does “combination skin” mean? It is so called because it has the characteristics of two types of skin, dry and oily: usually, in fact, it is oily and shiny on the T-zone, i.e. on the chin, nose and forehead; It dries on the cheeks, around the eyes and lips, and on the neck. Shiny areas often have the typical imperfections of oily skin, such as blemishes, pimples, enlarged pores, and blackheads.

🔎 TEST: having combination skin therefore means having shiny skin on the T-zone and dull and dehydrated skin on the rest of the face: do you find yourself? If you are not completely sure, cleanse your face, wait 30 minutes and then look in the mirror: do you notice shiny areas? If so, where are they?

⚠️ Be careful not to confuse oily skin with combination skin! Oily skin is characterized by an overproduction of sebum all over the face and has no dry areas.

However, it is easy to get confused: when this happens, we are often led to use the wrong products, perhaps aggressive, to do many scrubs, to cleanse the face insistently in the hope of removing sebum, or to skip hydration “because my skin is shiny anyway”: nothing could be more wrong!

By doing so, in fact, you risk further dehydrating dry areas and making shiny ones even oilier. Did you know that the skin barrier, to protect itself from too aggressive treatment or cleansing, can react by producing even more sebum, blemishes and pimples? 😱

Combination skin, the causes

Genetics are almost always involved, and this is also the case with combination skin. It is often an innate predisposition: is it a common skin type in your family? Try verifying!

Hormones, the change of season, the use of the wrong products, and, as we have seen, too aggressive cleansing or poor hydration are also factors that can have an influence.

Combination skin, how to treat it

You often ask us how to take care of combination skin: well, it’s not a matter of “curing”, but of taking care of it. What? With good and certified natural cosmetics, setting up a correct routine, having consistency, adopting a healthy lifestyle and many good habits that, over time, you will see, will make a difference! 👍

What to do: follow these tips

  • Cleanse your face morning and evening, gently, and do the Double Cleansing
  • Dry your face without rubbing the towel, but by gently patting it dry
  • Moisturize your skin every day, morning and evening, with targeted formulas, and remember to moisturize your neck, décolleté and eye contour (the latter with a specific product)
  • Do a gentle scrub 1-2 times a week
  • Include a purifying mask, a moisturizing mask, and an eye and lip contour mask in your routine and apply them simultaneously to different areas of the face with a multi-masking treatment
  • Do not underestimate the benefits of a good purifying facial toner to be used before serum and cream: it will be the winning product to optimize the results of your routine
  • Don’t torment pimples, don’t squeeze them and don’t use home remedies (toothpaste, lemon, etc.), instead apply a specific product such as BeOnMe Spot Treatment
  • Don’t touch your face with dirty hands
  • Change your sheets, pillowcases, towels and mask often, and keep your phone screen clean
  • Drink enough water and eat a balanced diet

Facial Cleansers for Combination Skin

Cleanse me combination skin

Use a mild foaming cleanser, such as BeOnMe’s Organic Aloe Cleansing Mousse. It does not dry out the skin, on the contrary, it leaves it nice and soft. Cleanse your face gently, without rubbing, without insisting and without lingering too long.

How to remove make-up from combination skin

Do the Double Cleansing, so first use BeOnMe’s cornflower organic Micellar Water, then the Cleansing Mousse.

How to exfoliate combination skin

Once or twice a week, exfoliate your skin and give it a deeper cleanse – use the scrub! Be careful, though: attacking the skin with the scrub “to remove sebum” is not a good idea, and that’s not how to use it. The scrub is an ally to include in your routine, but it must be done gently so as not to irritate the skin and not to compromise its lipid barrier!

Il Siero viso per la pelle mista

How to treat combination skin? With a targeted face serum, rich in active ingredients with a purifying, antiseptic and decongestant action, such as the BeOnMe Face Serum for Impure Skin with organic lavender, organic bitter orange blossom and linden hydrosols.

This serum helps regulate sebum production, reduces impurities, fights shine and tightens enlarged pores – all this without drying out the skin!

The FACE CREAM for COMBINATION SKIN

Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! Yes, combination skin needs hydration! Skipping this step is one of the most common mistakes, but it should be avoided.

BeOnMe’s Organic Combination Skin Face Cream has been formulated specifically for this skin type: it moisturizes without weighing it down, contains natural active ingredients with an astringent and decongestant action, such as organic witch hazel hydrosol, and has a mattifying finish! Use it morning and evening after applying the serum.

The Foundation for Combination Skin

How to put make up on combination skin? Prep your skin by applying BeOnMe’s Purifying Face Mask for 5-10 minutes: it has a mattifying effect. Then apply the Astringent Face Serum for Impure Skin and the Face Cream for Combination Skin, then proceed with the foundation.

In winter, choose a cream foundation, with a moisturizing action, but with an extra silky finish. In summer, you can lighten it by mixing it with a few drops of Astringent Face Serum for Impure Skin, or opt for a more liquid foundation.

Powder foundation is good if your skin is fairly smooth and homogeneous and there are no scabs or impurities on which it could accumulate by highlighting them.

Always finish with a sprinkling of powder to absorb excess sebum and prevent the appearance of shiny areas.

For your make-up, opt for natural formulas, free of silicones and parabens.
