Ginger (Zingiber officinale) is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the family of Zingiberaceae and originally from Asia that has been also widely cultivated in the tropical and subtropical area for a long time. It has a fleshy and branched rhizome in which the active ingredients are concentrated. The composition of the ginger root includes starch, proteins, and lipids, accompanied by essential oils, niacin and vitamin E.
