Not just ethics

We believe in the importance of honesty, professionalism, integrity, and the respect of human values in all that we do, so we have adopted a company code of ethics inspired by international best practice in order to inform the conduct of both our organization as a whole and of the individuals who work here.

For more information, read this: Codice Etico

But for us, “ethics” is more than this, as we are also convinced of the importance of corporate social responsibility.

We have taken to heart the potential impact our approach to cosmetics may have on the environment and on individual wellbeing, and we also focus on the ethical and social effects of our business.

Systems of corporate social responsibility typically seek to:

  • prevent child or other forced labor
  • ensure employees work the schedules that are allowed by law
  • provide employees with a dignified level of remuneration
  • ensure the right to unionize
  • ensure the employees’ right to be protected by collective bargaining agreements
  • ensure safety in the workplace
  • ensure a healthy workplace
  • prevent any discrimination based on gender, race, political or sexual orientation, or religious beliefs

However, for some time now, business ethics have been extended to encompass a concept known as “shared value”.

In our own personal interpretation of this concept, when BeOnMe was founded, we made the conscious decision to formalize our commitment to donate 3% of our profits each year to charitable initiatives by including it in our articles of association.

We came to this decision as the result of our years of positive experiences with a private Italian non-profit, Alice for Children by Twins International, that impressed us immediately with its founding principles.

This private, apolitical, nondenominational organization operates in Kenya and has, since 2007, been pursuing projects to aid vulnerable, disadvantaged children, working with them from infancy on into adulthood.

Twins International works in Africa and in Italy through a streamlined organization with minimal staff and a group of volunteers, and the association is able to keep its operating costs within a range of 15-20% of the funds raised, thereby directing 80-85% of those funds directly to their projects.

Because of our constant desire to learn and to meet new people, since 2009, and now also as members of the executive board, we have been going each year, in person, to see the various initiatives as they progress as well as to seek to better understand the possibilities for the future.

We invite you to learn more about how you, too, can help Alice for Children
